March 2011
We havent been very good with our regular update
resolution - sorry!
So in news - Grand American Champion Baghdad Be
Still My Heart, co-owned and loved by Lyndell Ackermann
and handled by Don Rogers has been a very busy girl this
year. She has already racked up a Group 1, and two
Group 3's in the US (along with 11 Best of Breeds), and
a Group 2 and 3 Best of Breeds in Canada. These
wins make her the Number 2 Saluki in the USA according
to the Canine Chronicle All Breed Rankings.
Isnt she lovely
!
The Tyghar x Julie
kids have also been very clever...they are only 15
months old, so there is a lot more to come from
them
New Australian
Champion Baghdad A Miss Demeanour really started the
year with a bang winning Best In Group and Runner Up
Best In Show in an entry of 1067. Demi is now very
happy in Western Australia being loved and co-owned by
Nichola and Christian Lawnton and handled by Belinda
Bailey. With this win, she is currently No 1
Saluki in Australia according to the Dogzonline All
Breeds rankings. Thank you to judges Dr Jeckell
from Hungary and Mr Peddie from USA
Twinkle New Australian
Champion Baghdad A Star Is Born was the first of the
litter to finish - but only just :) She has continued to
win classes in group and Best of Breeds. In
Iceland , Baghdad Arctic Sun (Kenai), owned by
Gudrun Gunnlaugsdóttir won his first CAC.
This now means that all 7 of this litter have won a
Puppy Group (at least), and all 7 are pointed on the way
to their titles

"We are incredibly happy to hear that Ms Bee, is
now BISS Grand Am Ch Baghdad Be Still My Heart.
Huge congratulations and thanks to Lyndell
Ackermann and everyone on Team Ms
Bee!"
2010 in Review
In many ways 2010 was
the saddest year for Baghdad with the loss of Jordan
, BIS/BISS World, International, American,
Canadian, Mexican, Americas, Australian Grand Ch. Baghdad Crème
De La
Crème, to cancer at just over 13 years
of age. Jordan was
my heart dog and was one of a
kind.

We
also lost Julia, BIS/BISS Aust. Ch. Taejaan Erin
Brockocitch, who was only just over 9 years but riddled
with cancer.
I want to thank Molly Rule-Steel again for giving
me this incredible bitch who was dearly loved. Jordan and Julia
contributed so much in their love, spirit and through
their off-spring.

Congratulations to Jan Olov-Bloom for finishing
the Swedish Championship on Baghdad Northern Lights
‘Jerry’ (Jordan X Julia). Also on Jerry’s
three very successful litters in Sweden, which are doing
very well in the show ring.

Congratulations to Steve and Anne Ham in the
UK who
co-own Baghdad Karim (Jordan X Julia)
on his BIS and Karim’s two lovely
litters - the older for Classicus is already making
their mark in the show ring.

Congratulations to Lisa Ferras who co-owns BIS
Aust.Ch.
Baghdad Angel Eyes
(Jordan X Julia) and her many Group wins and All
Breeds Best In Show in 2010 .

Congratulations
to Lynda Dunn on her Best In Shows and Irish
Championship on Aust. and Irish Ch. Baghdad Bronzed
Aussie (Jordan X Julia) and the successful litter he
produced for her which are doing very well in the show
ring.

This
is Bundy in front and Jerry behind in
Europe
Congratulations
to Bec Klok on ‘Aladdin’s’ Ch. Baghdad
Arabian Night (Kaspar X RUBIS CH. Baghdad Tempestuous
Tart) recent wins after his return to the show ring
beating the two top winning Salukis in
Australia.

Our
litter by Ch. Baghdad Tyghar Bey out of Ch. Baghdad At
The Oasis has had incredible success. At just over a
year old now many are almost champions with every one of
them winning at least Puppy In Group and some with
Group, and In Show awards. Let us introduce
you to each of them –
Baghdad
Arctic Sun ‘Kenai’ is in Iceland owned and loved by
Gudrun Gunnlaugsdottir. At his first show Kenai
won Puppy In Show!. He came through
quarantine with flying colours and Gudrun tells us he is
a pleasure to live with

Kenai winning Puppy In Show

Baghdad
A Miss Demeanour ‘Demi’ hit the show ring with a bang
winning Best Baby Puppy In Group or Show at her first 5
Shows. Her show record is really quite incredible. Due to a
personality conflict with a Min Pin, Demi is now in WA
with Christian and Nichola Lawnton. She is very
happy as a house dog with Saluki playmates.

Baghdad
A Joy To The World ‘Zee’, is living in Singapore with
Michael Ong and Jessen of Dreamchamber Sighthounds. Miss Zee is
charming people with her personality and has done very
well in the ring

Baghdad
Addicted to Love ‘Brocky’ is co-owned by Christian and
Nichola Lawnton in WA. He already has a
Runner-Up In Group and we expect he will be back in the
ring in the new year after an injury.

Baghdad
A Dream Come True ‘Amy’ is co-owned and adored by Bek
and John Klok.
Amy takes her role as Saluki ambassador seriously
and greets the world with a smile. Amy has been
very successful in the show ring, and with Bek
recovering from her knee op, will be back in force in
2011.

Baghdad
Ace of Spades ‘Ace’ is co-owned by Adrian and Mary
Keast.
Ace
is well on his way to his title and is a Puppy In
Group winner.

Last but
not least is Baghdad A Star is Born ‘Twinkle’. Twinkle lives
with Margot and her family and is a much loved
princess.
She has had some lovely wins in the show ring
winning under Saluki specialists and All Breeds judges,
qualified for Puppy of the Year and has well in excess
of 100 challenge points, and just needs the last 25 over
12 months old to finish her title. She loves the
world and the world loves her.

Our last
litter by Ch. Baghdad Spirit Of The Desert out of Ch.
Baghdad Charlottes Web has started to get some nice
class in group awards.

This is Baghdad Bialle Nogi ‘Claudie’ with
her gorgeous young handler Sancia Bingham in
Tasmania

Here is Baghdad Blue Paper Crane ‘Freyha’ –
co-owned and loved by Laura Bunbury.
We are
also incredibly proud of the Salukis descended from
Baghdad who are starring on the world stage. Congratulations
to Lyndell Ackermann on her homebred BIS/BISS Am.Can.Ch
Carma’s Indian Summer ‘Chief’ for attaining #1 Saluki in
the US for the second year in a row. Chief is a
Jordan grandson.
Currently Ms Bee is Number 3 in the breed points,
so it has been a great year for Lyndell –
Well
deserved! Congratulations to Nicklas and Ingunn Eriksson
and Michael and Elena Edwards on the incredible wins of
BIS/BISS INT SE NO DK SI Am CH Shiraz
California Dreamin’ ‘Harley”. Harley is a son
of BIS/BISS INT NORD US CH Baghdad Globetrotter. Harley was
number 1 All Breeds in Sweden 2009 and was Best In Show
at this years European Dog Show over an entry of more
than 10,000 dogs!
Best Puppy in
Show at the World Dog Show was another Saluki, Lynda
Dunns lovely Irish bitch Ulmarra Isnaslice ‘ Ginny’. Ginny
is sired by Bundy (Aust Ir Ch Baghdad Bronzed
Aussie).

Congratulations also to Trish and Gary
Russel on the success of the Pazada team. All Pazada
Salukis, to date, are out of Ch Baghdad Quirk O’Fate
‘Shari’, two of the the three litters are by BIS/BISS
Grand Ch Baghdad Sunsation ‘Twyx’. The Pazada team
have won Best In Show All Breeds and Specialty this
year, as well as Best In Group Hobart Royal. Congratulations
Pazada.
We are
looking forward to 2011. We have an
exciting litter planned, and have made a new years
resolution to update the web site regularly.
Paula
and Margot wish everyone a fantastic 2011 filled with
joy and happiness.
